2-1 | A message from our President Tanja Schultz
Dear ISCA members,
On behalf of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA), it is my great pleasure to welcome you as a member of ISCA. As you may know, by (re-)joining ISCA, you have become a member of the main international organization for researchers in speech communication. For detailed information on ISCA, please refer to our website (www.isca-speech.org) or visit us at the ISCA booth (exhibitors) during the next INTERSPEECH conference taking place September 6-10 2015 in Dresden, Germany.
During INTERSPEECH 2015, the community will honor ISCA members for their technical merits and service to our association. Since ISCA decided to make the announcements of the nominees prior to the opening session as the new policy of ISCA, I am delighted to share with you the great news that Professor Mary E. Beckman is nominated for the 2015 ISCA Medal for Scientific Achievement. She will be the first keynote speaker on Monday 7th September right after the opening ceremony. I am also very happy to let you know that Professor Hiroya Fujisaki is nominated for the 2015 ISCA Special Service Medal. Furthermore, we will honor five members of our community who were recently elected as ISCA Fellows, Pascale Fung, Reinhold Häb-Umbach, Lori Lamel, David Nahamoo, and Marc Swerts. Congratulations!
On behalf of the ISCA Board, I would like to invite all ISCA members to attend the ISCA General Assembly, which will take place in Dresden in conjunction with INTERSPEECH 2015. The General Assembly will start at 17:30 (5:30 pm) on Tuesday, September 8th and will be held in the 'Großer Saal' of the conference venue. The General Assembly is open to all members of ISCA and provides an excellent opportunity to actively participate in the discussions and to propose suggestions to further improve the service and impact of ISCA.
We are looking forward to seeing you all at INTERSPEECH 2015 in Dresden!
Tanja Schultz ISCA President
