2-1President's message

Dear ISCA Members,

THANKS!

Yes, 'Thanks' is not the common way to start this President Message. However... A few months ago, I explained the importance of the ISCA board elections for our association. First, having enough candidates increases the legitimity of the elected members. Second, I want to recall what I said previously, being a candidate this year is evidence of your interest in the association, evidence of one's desire to serve ISCA, as board member this year or in the future or using other ways.

And... This year we have 28 candidates!!! Really, sincerely, I want to thank them. Now, I am coming back to all the ISCA members. We have to thank the candidates by recognizing their interest in the association, to recognize what they are giving to us in terms of long term investments for ISCA, in terms of certainty about the future of ISCA. And the best way, the only way to do that is to have a huge participation, from you all, in the elections!  I am counting on you to vote!

Interspeech 2013 is approaching, with a deadline for the normal paper submission fixed at March 18! Remember that ISCA policy is to have no additional delay concerning the submission deadline... We will have prestigious Keynote speakers, with the participation of the ISCA 2013 Medalist (remember that the board selected Hynek Hermansky), Anne-Lise Giraud, Maureen Clerc and Benjamin Munson.

This year, Interspeech 2013 is also the time to announce the winner of the Christian Benoit Association Award (delivered by the Christian Benoit Association). Please look  at the call for participation in this ISCApad. The deadline for submission of applications is April 29.

With my best regards,
JF Bonastre

ISCA President

2-4Membership validity dates

 Dear members of ISCA,
All voters in the upcoming election for the ISCA Board must be active members in 2013.
Please note that a 'yearly renewal' at ISCA does not actually give a 12-month term.
To simplify administration, the ISCA Board decided in 2002 to have all memberships
end either on June 30 or Dec. 31, which means that any given renewal lasts a variable
duration (8-14 months) depending on when the renewal occurs; see:
 http://www.isca-speech.org/iscaweb/index.php/membership/251
All those who paid their fees via registration at Interspeech-2012 are active ISCA
members till June 30, 2013. However, those who paid a yearly renewal early in 2012
must renew for 2013 to render their account active. We invite you to verify your status:
 http://www.isca-speech.org/iscaweb/iscamember/list
With your member number XXXX, you can retrieve a forgotten password:
 http://www.isca-speech.org/iscaweb/iscamember/forget
We hope you will be participating in this year's election, which is expected to start
next week and end on April 30th. All ISCA members will get an invitation email to vote.
 Best regards,
Douglas O'Shaughnessy ISCA Secretary
