Welcome to the March edition of ISCApad!

First of all, I am glad to announce that ISCA has selected Professor Fumitada Itakura as the recipient of ISCA Medal for Scientific Achievements 2017 in recognition of his contributions in developing fundamental statistical algorithms in speech coding and recognition with broad and unparalleled impacts. Professor Fumitada Itakura will deliver a plenary speech in INTERSPEECH 2017. Congratulations to Professor Fumitada Itakura!

The ISCA Medal for Scientific Achievement recognizes and honors an individual each year who has made extraordinary contributions to the field of speech communication science and technology. The award of ISCA Medal has been established since 1989. ISCA Board announces the recipient of the year in March. ISCA Medal is presented to the recipient by ISCA President at INTERSPEECH opening ceremony, when the Medalist also delivers a keynote speech.

March is also an important month in ISCA calendar.  ISCA holds Board election every two years as a renewable process.  2017 is the election year of ISCA. We will elect 8 new members to the Board in 2017. I would like to announce that we have concluded the nomination of ISCA Board election 2017 with 16 candidates. The ballot will start in March 2017. All members will receive an email invitation to vote. I write to thank you for your participation in the nomination process, and call for your participation again by casting your vote!
