Noisy and ambiguous stimuli to probe adaptive processes in audition Perception is an encounter between external stimulation and ongoing brain processes. Such brain processes reflect one?s past experience, and it is currently hypothesized that they are constantly re-adjusting to the stimuli and tasks at hands. In this talk, I will give an overview of ongoing studies, which try to highlight adaptive processes by using random or ambiguous stimuli. Random stimuli allow to track performance and brain plasticity from the very first exposure to a given sensory pattern. Ambiguous stimuli provide essentially inconclusive sensory information, so they may be used to put more weight on ongoing brain processes in perceptual decisions. I will describe studies of memory for random auditory noise in behavior and EEG, inter-individual differences for ambiguous stimuli, and context effects with such stimuli. _________________ Autres séminaires du Département Parole et Cognition déjà programmés:
