2-1A message from John Hansen, ISCA Vice-President

Dear ISCA Members,

Welcome to the next installment of the ISCApad for June 2016!

INTERSPEECH-2016 TPC Update: As of this week, the INTERSPEECH Technical Program Committee (TPC) has completed their
May meeting in California, USA to make the final review decisions on Interspeech-2016 submissions - Area Chairs from 13
Technical Areas worked collectively to make the final paper decisions, as well as establish and organize oral and poster sessions.
Paper submission decisions went out this week. We would like to encourage all members of the ISCA community to make plans
to attend Interspeech-2016 in San Francisco! Registration is now open! Note that it is best to renew your ISCA Membership
before going to the Interspeech-2016 registration process.

ISCA DISTINGUISHED LECTURERS: As a reminder from our last ISCApad, Professors Hiroya Fujisaki and Valerie Hazan have
been named as the ISCA Distinguished Lecturers 2016-2017. So, if you have interest in having them visit your institution as
part of the ISCA DL Lecture series, please see the ISCA DL website for DL Topics and logistics. They are available for lecture
tours upon request from host institutions.

ISCA SUPPORT OF REMOTE CONFERENCE ACCESS: Finally, in the last INTERSPEECH-2015 conference, a remote process was
explored for individuals wanting to participate in remote presentation. This was tried with both poster and oral sessions.
Presently, ISCA is continuing to explore the specific option for remote attendance (i.e., only attendance, not oral/poster
presentation) for individuals who are not able to travel to the conference/workshop due to either health/family constraints,
or visa/political travel constraints. We will be looking at some potential limited options for this coming INTERSPEECH-2016.

As the INTERSPEECH-2016 conference approaches, we hope you will consider attending - and as IS-2016 General Chair
Nelson Morgan encouraged in Dresden, please come to San Francisco with a flower in your hair! We look forward to see all
of you this September!

John Hansen,
ISCA Vice-President

2-2Grants for students

ISCA wants to support and encourage students and young researchers by providing grants for attending conferences, and by recognizing good research. At each INTERSPEECH, an ISCA award is given to the 3 best student papers presented at the conference, based on anonymous review of the papers and the presentation at the conference.  ISCA also financially supports students and young scientists by providing a limited number of grants for young authors with accepted papers at INTERSPEECH and ISCA supported workshops. The ISCA board member responsible for Grants and Awards is Torbjørn Svendsen.

Video archives are available in

where keynote speeches from IS 2007, 2010 and 2011 can be seen. Very soon we will have
the material for IS 2012 as well.
