Description:
Adaptive systems in communications are omnipresent today. Whether we find them in hands-free telephones, adaptive hybrids for telephony, echo cancellers in modern ADSL lines or equalizers in radio, TV and cellular transmission systems, they all follow certain learning rules to optimize their behavior based on observations. While basic foundation in terms of applied adaptive filters have been laid in the past decades , there is still space for further improvements, for example in distributed algorithms for adaptive systems.
This special issue is to honor Eberhard Hänsler?s achievements in adaptive systems that made many of today?s communication equipment possible. Submissions along the lines of adaptive systems for communications are solicited. Authors are requested to show how the work of Hänsler influenced their approaches.
Topics of interest include:
* Adaptive Filter Theory * Distributed, Adaptive Algorithms for Sensor Networks * Adaptive Filter Applications in Acoustics and Speech Communications * Adaptive Equalizer Techniques * Hands free telephony * Echo cancellers * Adaptive equalizers * Distributed algorithms
