2-1Message from our President Tanja Schultz and our Vice-President Haizhou Li

Dear ISCA members,

On behalf of the ISCA board, we wish you and yours a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

New Year is always a time to look back and keep good memories of past events like the successful INTERSPEECH 2014 event in Singapore, and to look forward to the next INTERSPEECH 2015 taking place in Dresden Germany on 6-10 September 2015. We all very much hope to see you in Dresden in 2015!

THIS TIME OF THE YEAR is an opportunity to look back and TREASURE great memories of past events ... taking place in Dresden, Germany ...
We very much hope to seeing you all in Dresden in 2015.

As announced in November 2014, ISCA Archive will become Open Access in 2015 as part of our New Year celebration. INTERSPEECH 2015 will continue the tradition to publish the conference proceedings online during the conference.

With that, ISCA strives to provide open and timely accessibility of conference publications to the community.

Tanja Schultz, ISCA President

Haizhou Li, ISCA Vice President

2-3Election of members for the Board of ISCA (2015-2019)

Announcement: Election of members for the Board of ISCA (2015-2019)

The ISCA Board currently has 14 members from 11 countries (see full list below). Members are elected to the Board for a period of four years and no member may serve on the Board for more than two consecutive terms.  The following Board members will have served for two terms of four years in September: Tanja SCHULTZ, Alan BLACK, Helen MENG, and Bernd MÖBIUS, and thus these four will be retiring.  In addition, Satoshi NAKAMURA will be ending his first term (and running for re-election).  Thus we have openings for five members this year.

In accordance with the ISCA by-laws, elections to the Board will take place in April 2015.   We invite nominations from the ISCA membership.  Each nomination requires the support of three members of the Association and agreement from the candidate (e.g., by email).  The ISCA statutes specify a maximum of three Board members from any one country.  Each ISCA member will be asked to cast a anonymous ballot in the election, via a survey website.

Members elected to the Board will be expected to have one of the areas of responsibility listed below, to commit time to furthering the work of ISCA in their area, to attend the  Board meetings that take place at each annual INTERSPEECH conference and to participate in additional virtual meetings during the year (via teleconference).  All candidates should be aware of these obligations and commit themselves to fulfilling them before agreeing to be nominated.

The Board will accept nominations either from proposers or self-nominations, as long as indication of support is provided. Please send your nomination(s) to the ISCA Secretariat secretariat@isca-speech.org   BEFORE March 1st, 2015 (Sunday) with the following information:

Full Name and Title:
Position and Institution:
Research area:
Indication of willingness to serve if elected:
E-mail:
URL:
Short biography (one paragraph)
Short statement (one paragraph, describing the work one would intend to do on the Board)
