Speech Recognition Researcher

Location:  Pittsburgh, PA

Available: Immediately

From speech-enabled interfaces and imaging solutions to computer-assisted physician documentation and natural language analytics, M*Modal is changing what technology can do in healthcare.

 

Position Summary:

The prospective candidate should have a working knowledge of both Speech Recognition and Computer Algorithms and be able to learn about new technologies from original publications. 
As a member of our Speech R&D team composed of Software Engineers and Speech Recognition Researchers, you will help define the algorithms and architecture used in our next generation of products.

 

Essential Functions:

The incumbent will be expected to use his/her programming skills to work with our team on research, technology development, and applications in speech recognition.

 

We offer work with:

  • Systems that make a real difference in the lives of patients and doctors

  • Language models, Acoustic models, Front-ends, decoders, etc, based on our own state-of-the-art modular recognition toolkit

  • Training data per speaker varying from seconds to hundreds of hours – both transcribed and unsupervised.

 

Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field

  • Top-level awareness of all aspects of large vocabulary speech recognition

  • In-depth understanding of several components of state-of-the-art speech recognition

  • C++, Java, Perl, or Python programming

  • Experience with both Linux and Windows

  • Experience participating in large software development projects.

  • Experience with large-scale LVCSR projects or evaluations is a definite plus

  • Enthusiasm to work directly on a real production system

Language Developer

Location:  Pittsburgh, PA

Position Summary:

The prospective candidate would help to improve our speech recognition systems based on our own state-of-the-art recognizer toolkit. This involves processing text for building language models for different applications, experimenting with different types of language models, training locale-optimized acoustic models, improving pronunciation dictionaries, and testing, tuning and troubleshooting speech recognition systems. As we work with very large amounts of data, data processing is run across a Linux cluster.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Background in related specialty, such as linguistics, machine learning or statistics

  • Programming skills, such as Java or Python

  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows environments

  • Working knowledge of regular expressions

  • Prior experience with automatic speech recognition systems is of course a plus
