Paris Diderot University will open a lecturer position in English phonetics, phonology and morpho-phonology for September 2015, pending budgetary approval.

Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in English Linguistics with a specialization in phonetics or phonology. Candidates should either already hold a tenured lecturer position or apply for accreditation by the French Conseil National des Universités. Note that the deadline for the first step of application for CNU accreditation is October 23rd, 2014.

Candidates should have expertise in the areas of English phonetics and phonology, with research interests in the morphology-phonology or morphology-phonetics interface. Those whose record of research relates to one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: second language acquisition, quantitative, statistical or computational methods in linguistic research, psycholinguistic experimentation, laboratory phonology, and/or sociolinguistics. A working knowledge of French is expected.

The successful candidate is expected to join the Centre de Linguistique Interlangue, de Lexicologie, de Linguistique Anglaise et de Corpus - Atelier de recherche sur la parole (CLILLAC-ARP) and the department of English :

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses in phonetics, phonetic variation and intonation and graduate courses in phonetics and in the areas of the appointee's specialization. Other duties include supervision of graduate students, involvement in curricular development and in the administration of the department.

 

This position is a permanent one with a civil servant status. Salary will be in accordance with the French state regulated public service salary scale.
