Dear ISCA Members,

Welcome to the June edition of ISCApad!

May has proven to be a busy month for ISCA Board. Seven Board Members attended a physical board meeting on 7 May 2014 in Florence during ICASSP. Six Board Members attended the INTERSPEECH Technical Program Committee meeting on 29-30 May 2014 in Singapore.  The Board has approved the ISCA Training Schools 2014, concluded the selection of ISCA Fellows 2014, and reviewed the progress of INTERSPEECH and workshops, among others.

I am glad to announce two ISCA Training Schools, eNTERFACE’14 in Bilbao, Spain (June-July 2014), and Speech Processing Courses in Crete, Greece (August 2014). ISCA Training Schools are coordinated by Hynek Hermansky as part of the ISCA Education and Training Program, that promotes international speech communication, science and technology through community development. I wish ISCA’s inaugural Training Schools every success. The Board will announce the newly selected ISCA Fellows shortly.

INTERSPEECH 2014 also marked an important milestone in May. INTERSPEECH 2014 technical program committee convened a two-day meeting in Singapore, attended by 17 members, to conclude the paper acceptance decision. Over 600 papers were accepted at an acceptance rate of 52%. You should have received the paper acceptance notice by now.

The Board invites all ISCA Members to attend INTERSPEECH 2014 on 14-18 September 2014, and the ISCA General Assembly on 16 September 2014. Register now to enjoy the early bird discount!
