2-1Message of our president about Interspeech 2011
Dear ISCA member,

INTERSPEECH 2011 has received a record number of 1435 submissions.   I only hope that the number of participants 
also breaks another record, so that we can gather in the wonderful city of Florence the largest spoken language 
community ever, to enjoy the excellent technical and social program that the organizing team has prepared for us.
 I'm looking forward to meeting you all in Florence!

2-2ISCA new video archive service

 ISCA announces that it starts a new service, Video Archive, that provides video streaming (video and slides) for lectures and presentations in related seminars and conferences, which can be found at the Archive section of ISCA Web. The content is hosted in University of Crete, Greece, as a temporary solution. For posting of Video Archive, please contact

archives@isca-speech.org

2-3Election at the board
Dear ISCA members, 

The election for five ISCA Board members is now complete. The results
are as follows: 

496 ballots were received during the voting period (30 April – 30
May) with the following five candidates elected as ISCA Board members
for a period of four years from 1 September (members are listed
alphabetically): 

ALAN W BLACK (USA) 

HELEN MENG (HONG KONG) 

BERND MÖBIUS (GERMANY) 

SATOSHI NAKAMURA (JAPAN) 

TANJA SCHULTZ (GERMANY) 

On behalf of the ISCA Board, I would like to thank all of you who
took part in the election. We are seeing an increased participation
in the Board election which is very encouraging. Participation has
increased from 169 ballots in 2007 to 338 in 2009 to 496 today. 

I would also like to encourage you to attend the ISCA General
Assembly which will take place in Florence in conjunction with
INTERSPEECH 2011 (http://www.interspeech2011.org). The General
Assembly is open to all members of ISCA and provides an excellent
opportunity for you to actively participate in the meeting and
propose suggestions to help make our association even better.

2-4Meeting of senior and student researchers organized by our student branch
ISCA Student Advisory Committee is happy to announce that this year, thanks to the generous support of the Interspeech 2011 Organizing Committee and ISCA Board, we are organizing a special event for students that gives you the possibility to get in touch with prominent researchers in your area and have a discussion on your interest and research work with people whose work is well-known, established and inspiring to all of us! This event will be accompanied with Italian delicacies as well.

This event is a great opportunity and an informal setting to meet your peer researchers and experts in your field.

place on the second day of Interspeech, Monday, August 29th, from
12:00 to 13:30, on the first floor of the 'Pala Affari' building.

The number of tables and places is limited so hurry and sign up as soon as possible.

After the registration, students will be grouped in teams of 10 depending on their research interest, and accompanied by an Italian host researcher and an international researcher.
